How to use the WiDaF® Tests?
WiDaF® (Deutsch als Fremdsprache in der Wirtschaft) measures and certifies proficiency in business German. The WiDaF® test is used by companies to measure the efficiency of training and for the purpose of certification and recruitment.
It was developed in 1996 by German-French Chamber of Commerce.
The WiDaF® consists of 150 multiple-choice questions. It is divided into 2 parts and lasts approximately 3 hours. The test scores are presented on a scale ranging from 0 to 990 points and divided into 3 different, separate scales (0-330 points x 3) for each skill: Vocabulary, Reading and Listening.
Difficulty level
The test has been prepared to measure the proficiency in German used both at work and in business. The WiDaF® score is between 0 to 990 points. In order to measure precisely the level of candidate’s proficiency in German, the test consists of questions with different level of difficulty. One of WiDaF® advantages is the fact that before taking it, the test taker does not have to declare the level of his proficiency. It’s the exam which measures and certifies test taker’s skills, on the basis of the score obtained.
See the WiDaF® language skills descriptors – description of the tests scores related to the CEFR levels. Do not forget to attach it to your resumè together with the Certificate. With the description table attached your employer will be able to interpret your score.
